I am really delighted to discover that I have been awarded this years Tyrone Guthrie Centre Bursary Award by The Mayo Arts Service.
The Tyrone Guthrie Centre is such a prestigious institution within the Irish cultural landscape and I am very honoured to have been awarded time and space there to begin an entirely new body of work and to meet other artists, writers and cultural practitioners. I am scheduled in to begin this residency during mid September where I will transition my practice from the psychology of wonder towards an exploration of dreams as a space of spontaneous creative emergence.
The Mayo Arts Service offers a special bursary annually to artists living and working in Mayo to spend one week at Tyrone Guthrie centre at Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan. Workspace, board and lodging expenses will be provided for in the award.
I wanted to say a huge thanks to the Mayo Arts Service for all of their continued support over the years in the development of my practice from funding, to the acquisition of my work for their permanent collection and all the other opportunities, supports and conversations they have provided.
I cant wait to share what I dream up!

✂️⚡️Upcoming Solo Exhibition - The Lexicon of Wonder⚡️✂️
Opening: This Friday July 11th at 6pm GMT
Running until: Saturday, August 9th 2025.
At:
Áras Inis Glauire,
Church St,
Belmullet,
Co. Mayo,
Ireland,
F26 W5HO.
I am really thrilled to launch this exhibition of my new body of work entitled The Lexicon of Wonder.
Inspired by the emotions of Wonder & Awe which are central pillars to my experience of the world.
Here is a little bit about the work:
”Wonder and Awe are complex emotions arising in response to experiences of profound beauty, connection, natural phenomena, or through bearing witness to the incredible capacities, courage or talents of other human beings. They can also arise at times of great personal crisis or fear such as witnessing the raw power of nature at a time of natural disaster.
Encountering reality through the states of Wonder and Awe can make an individual feel simultaneously small, and deeply connected to the world around them. They are emotions that inspire us to both transcend our own self interests and to delve deeply into our desire for greater understanding. They are in short the emotions of human discovery, and as such the unifying engines of the human curiosity behind philosophy, science and the arts.
For this exhibition I draw on the contemporary research of Psychologist Dacher Keltner and Philosopher Helen De Cruz into the importance of Wonder as a state of being. This new body of work is inspired by wonder, materials sourced from old children's scientific encyclopedias and contemporary collage techniques. Opening this Friday, I invite you to Áras Inis Glauire where you can experience these artworks that instill a viewer with sense of Wonder at the boundless curiosity of scientific investigation and humanities deep connection with the natural world.”

⚡️✒️ ITS ALIVE: Mary Shelly's Frankenstein: Kolaj Edition ✒️⚡️
⚡️✂️ Featured Artist in Mary Shelly's Frankenstein: Kolaj Edition✂️⚡️
⚡️⚡️!!!!!ITS ALIVE!!!⚡️⚡️
In the Autumn of 2023, I had the real pleasure of teaming up with a whole crew of creaturely collaborators to illustrate a new version of Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein. It was macabre delight to work with these monsters on dissecting Mary Shelly’s seminal work of proto-sciencefiction. It was an amazing process to spend time thinking about and drawing out the colourful, magical and fearful imagery within. I had a lot of fun working on the illustrations in this version with our ghastly group, including my dear friend and regular collaborator Marta Janik.
I am delighted to announce that the book is now ready for release!
See more from the publishers below:
”This new version of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's classic 19th century novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus features seventy-six illustrations by International Collage Artists who delved into the novel's rich narrative and visual potential and created thought-provoking artworks that reflect the essence of Frankenstein in a 21st century context. “Frankenstein,” writes artist David Edward Johnson, “The name alone conjures a lightning storm of images. From corpses, unholy and unearthed, to gothic laboratories, alive with galvanic impulse, to personal loss, longing, and anger. Shelley’s 1818 masterwork is locked in our collective unconscious like a fever dream. Since childhood, I have been in love with its silent shudders and moss-covered 19th-century tableaus.” Artists created illustrations that connected Shelley's text to contemporary issues. Artists explored the role of science and artificial intelligence, queerness, intersectional identities, narcissism, and modern relationships. "Shelley's timelessness is proven by our ability to use her novel to reflect on our world today," said Kolaj Institute Director Ric Kasini Kadour. "Collage artists, with their unique ability to transcend scale, place, and history, are well-suited to giving us pictures that bring vintage texts into the contemporary moment."“
Participating creatures include:
Claire Dannenbaum (Eugene, Oregon, USA); Emily Denlinger (Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA); Suzanne Greenberg (New York, New York, USA); David Edward Johnson (Skaneateles, New York, USA); Marta Janik (Warsaw, Poland); Anthony D Kelly (Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland); Maureen Letton (San Francisco, California, USA); Rosie Lewis (York, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom); Anissa Malady (San Francisco, California, USA); Rebecca Steiner (Lyme, Connecticut, USA); Jessica TranVo (Boston, Massachusetts, USA); Anthony Naimo (Spruce Pine, North Carolina, USA); Elzbieta Zdunek (Berlin, Germany)

"On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Stewart-Swift Research Center, the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History invited an international network of collage artists to engage with historic material in the archive and to create a folio of collage prints that reflect on the idea of community in a 21st century world. Five artists who participated in the project did so from Europe. What did their unique perspective draw from the archive? Artists from Poland, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, and Ukraine will join project curator Ric Kasini Kadour for a conversation about European perspectives on American history and place."

This Sunday 26th February at 7PM GMT/ 2PM EST
In this online event, Ric Kasini Kadour will share the impetus for the day’s creation and its philosophy. We will introduce the 2023 World Collage Day Poster Artist Anthony D Kelly from Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland who will speak about the concept behind the poster and the series of postcards he designed for the day. Kelly and Kadour will be joined by others planning World Collage Day events and activities. Bring your ideas, questions, and thoughts about your own plans for World Collage Day 2023 to share. The Virtual Event is Free & Open to All.
Kelly writes: “There is something inherently beautiful, courageous and profoundly valuable in this creative drive to recompose alienated parts into new, wonderful and unified realities; especially in the face of potential missteps, mistakes and failures,” writes Kelly. “As an act collage invites us to hold a vital middle ground, to navigate juxtapositions, disjunctions, conflicts, contradictions and clashes of context, as we seek to move towards understanding, and the creation of something meaningful and new.”

Curating Collage Workshop hosted by the Kolaj Institute - January 2023
🔸🔹🔸CURATING COLLAGE WORKSHOP - JANUARY 2023🔸🔹🔸
I am absolutely delighted to have been accepted to take part in the Kolaj Intitute's Curating Collage Workshop hosted by the illustrious Kolaj Magazine over the course of January and February.
I am really excited to learn more about the various considerations and aspects involved in curating collage exhibitions. The organisers statements create a picture of a wide reaching and in-depth investigation of the exhibition of collage. I am really looking forward to it!
The organisers have this to say:
"Curating is a vital part of art’s function: a curator creates a bridge between artwork and audience. For artists, this process can be confusing and mysterious. The goal of the Curating Collage Workshop is to equip artists with the tools to curate their own work, to work with curators, and build exhibitions that connect with diverse audiences.
The Curating Collage Workshop will focus on the role of the exhibition: How do we exhibit collage? What is needed from collage to function in a commercial gallery, art center, or museum? How do we build exhibitions that go beyond the “Cut and Paste” group show model that is prevalent today? What does it mean to be artist-centric, medium-centric, or viewer-centric in the presentation of collage in exhibition? And the workshop will explore ideas around Curation: What is a curator and what is their role? How do we introduce collage to viewers? How do we build an audience for collage and generate enthusiasm and a sense of value for the work? How do we take collage where it needs to go to reach the viewers it is intended to reach?."
